Shut the Front Door!

Actually, hang them on the wall, or rest them against a wall. I had a couple sets of tall cabinet doors that I just couldn't decide what I wanted to do. In my mind, they reminded me of old shutters, with menus or similar printing, weathered and worn. How did I achieve this?

First step, lightly rough up the finish and cover with a good stain blocking primer.

Next step, I chose a combination of pale blue, green and yellow and painted somewhat stripey, the entire length of the door, including the hardware. I then chose a couple of stencils and stenciled my little heart out. I always sand lightly on my stenciling to show aging or wear.
